I moved to Martha's Vineyard 17 years ago. Now, at 40 years old, I am a homeowner, a father to Elena (5) and Alex (3), and a husband to Cristina, who is a teacher at the Martha's Vineyard Regional High School.Let me tell you a little more about my backstory and experience. I earned a bachelor's degree in finance with a minor in accounting from SMU Dallas, TX, a top 30 business school in the nation. I have translated that education in real world experience as an owner of Cottage City Oyster Farm and A2D Productions.I have three years experience on the Martha's Vineyard Commission, one as Vice-Chair, and the MVC Finance Committee. I have five years experience with the Natural Resources Department, an all-encompassing board that represents the Harbor, Dredge, and Shellfish. I also received a recent appointment to the Zoning Board of Appeals. Lastly, I have experience as a past treasurer of Island Grown Initiative and the Farm Bureau.I'm a volunteer firefighter with Tisbury's Fire-Rescue Company, as well as an Emergency Medical Technician, a licensed U.S. Coast Guard 50-ton Captain, and hold an Unrestricted Contractor Supervisor License.

SPEND SMARTER

It's no secret Tisbury is at an inflection point financially right now. Spending is getting out of control. We have a dual affordability crisis, and as a father of two young kids, it's worrying. Will our children be able to afford to purchase a home here? And if they're somehow able, will they be able to afford to keep the house with rising property taxes and high cost of living? We are chasing people and businesses out of Tisbury with our increasing debt load. We need to start treating the Town like a $42 million dollar business. We need younger people to get involved. We need new ideas. As an entrepreneur, I hope to bring that mentality to the Select Board.

WHAT'S WORKING &
WHAT'S NOT

OUR BUDGET

When it comes to spending, most of us assess our needs versus wants for the year. When it comes to the Town of Tisbury, our strategy should be no different. Budgets need to start from $0 every year. Every line item must be justified. We should not shy away from investing in our Town and making sure we are meeting our needs, but we need to end the wasteful spending. It's time.

SMART DEVELOPMENT

As an oyster farmer, my livelihood is dependent on the health of our oceans and ponds. We must continue to find solutions that allow for smart development while keeping the environment as a top priority.

LOCAL POLITICS MATTERS

It's time we take a close look at our Town, get more young voices involved in shaping the community, and start working towards a better Tisbury.
